Plastic Pollution

Since 1974, 5th June, World Environment Day which is observed to create awareness among people for saving the environment. And not just by planting a tree, creating awareness about the pollution nowadays has become very essential as the water pollution, environmental issues, global warming are affecting and increasing a lot.

According to Dame Ellen MacArthur, “by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fishes, until and unless the industries release their waste in the water”. The plastic consumption is increasing every year if the surveys are considered plastic has become the main reason to pollutions. If this is the case that goes on then a day will come where there will be no trees left, and no water left for our future generation.

Plastic Alternative Ideas

It is the right time for us to react and start fighting against pollution and most important thing involved in it is plastic. Here are few things which will help avoid plastic and use some alternative instead of plastic:

  • While going for shopping use your own bags like the handmade bags, jute bags, khadi cotton bags etc. Not only you encourage others to use these bags.
  • Stop buying the bottled water that is available in the market instead take the water in the reusable bottles from home.
  • Opt for paper bags in the malls instead of the plastic bags.
  • If you are storing your food in the plastic wraps or plastic containers. Due to the heat of the food items, it reacts with the plastic and releases harmful chemicals. Which will affect your health if you are going to consume it! Instead, use steel containers or glass containers.
  • Microplastic is the dangerous form of plastic that can’t be filtered out and which are majorly found in the cosmetics like face wash and toothpaste. So, try to avoid the “polyethylene” and “polypropylene” items instead use the other alternatives to it.
  • Stop using the single time use plastic razors and start using the blade changeable razors or the straight razors.
  • Still, if you have some plastic products in home try to recycle those things as much as possible. And try to use objects other than plastic in your daily life.

I Give Up Plastic

Not just the plastic we also should take a pledge to start saving the plants and trees. From the surveys conducted every year, we can easily conclude that the population of the country is increasing every year and it has increased 17.1% in the last 5 years. Resulting in requiring a lot of livelihood options to the people which are initially leading to cutting down of trees for various purposes like for the area to build the house, for different furniture items, for industries etc. If this goes on continuously then that day is not far enough when all the habitat will be gone and will we be left with the drought-ridden areas. So, it has become very crucial to plant trees not only in the environment day but on all those days which you think will be giving your future generation a greener, better and healthy life. In which they will be able to see a good environment, healthier air and with less pollution around them.
